FERTILIZATION
Fertilization
happens a week after your menstruation cycle has ended
or 14 days after your last menstrual cycle. After about
7-10 days the fertilized ovum gets planted in to the lining of the womb. By the
end of another week it is firmly attached by its primal placenta which links
the developing embryo to its mother.
The ovum is
released from the surface of the ovary around the 14th
day of the cycle. It is caught in the funnel shaped end of the Fallopian tube and is propelled along it by muscular
contractions. Fertilization by one sperm occurs about a third of the way along
the tube. The fertilized cell divides in two within twenty four hours.
With repeated
cell divisions a ball of cells is formed. The egg continues to divide as it is
swept along the tube. An empty opening, known as the blast cyst, forms on the ball of cells, which reaches the cavity of the uterus.
Implantation begins around day 7 and is most commonly in the upper part of the
uterus on either side depending on whether the left or right
ovary ovulated. By day 10 the embryo is firmly implanted.

FERTILAZATION
SITUATION
Now the girl participants do not move an inch. They try to
concentrate on the lecture harder and harder.
Speaker: I wish to jump to the subject on
fertilization. It begins with the binding at a sperm head to the outer coating
of the egg. Exocytose of the
achrosome at the tip of the sperm
head releases enzymes that digest a path through the zona and enable the sperm
head to bind to the plasma membrane of the egg. Fusion of their respective
membranes allows the entire contents of the sperm to be drawn into the cytosol
of the egg.
Gloria: is that why event though the sperm’s
mitochondria enter the egg they are almost always destroyed and do not
contribute their genes to the embryo.
Speaker: Yes … so human mitochondria DNA is
almost always inherited from mothers only.
Michiko:
Very astonishing…
Zainab : God knows how I feel as a woman!
